.. _wildfire_fwi_data_quality_and_evaluation: Data Quality and Evaluation =========================== This page summarises available information on accuracy, uncertainty, validation, known gaps, caveats, and version history for the Wildfire FWI application. Current evaluation status ------------------------- The Wildfire FWI indicators are derived from Climate DT model simulations using the Canadian Forest Fire Weather Index (FWI) system. At present, evaluation results are available only for IFS-NEMO. Evaluation pages for IFS-FESOM and ICON are listed as placeholders and will be populated when results become available. The available evaluation mainly focuses on: - consistency of the FWI implementation with the standard formulation - sensitivity of FWI outputs to input meteorological variables - general comparison with known climatological patterns of fire danger More comprehensive model-specific validation and benchmarking against observational datasets will be included in future updates. Model-specific evaluation pages ------------------------------- Detailed evaluation results for individual Climate DT models are provided in dedicated subpages where available. The IFS-NEMO page contains the current evaluation results; the IFS-FESOM and ICON pages are included to show the planned evaluation structure. .. toctree:: :maxdepth: 1 ifs_nemo_wildfire_fwi ifs_fesom_wildfire_fwi icon_wildfire_fwi Known gaps, anomalies, and caveats ---------------------------------- * The FWI system is based solely on atmospheric variables and does not explicitly include vegetation, fuel type, or human factors affecting wildfire occurrence. * Results are sensitive to biases in input variables such as temperature, precipitation, humidity, and wind. * Adaptation of the original Canadian FWI system to global applications introduces additional uncertainties (e.g. latitude-dependent adjustments). * Model-specific biases in Climate DT simulations may affect the estimated wildfire danger levels. * Some datasets or model configurations may not yet be available for the full simulation period. Version history and change logs ------------------------------- This guide describes the initial release of Wildfire FWI data within the Climate DT framework. Version history and updates will be documented in future releases.
