Desert locusts are known as the world`s most destructive migratory pest, and can cause major impacts to the economy, quality of life and the environment. Climate change is amplifying the occurrence of such pests. By using advanced AI techniques and climate data, the Desert Locust Monitoring Service (DLMS) helps prevent locust upsurges, thereby mitigating crop damage and safeguarding essential food supplies. Laveraging the power of satellites data, model data and in situ data, the DLMS allows to identify areas with favorable environmental conditions for locust breeding, and predict locust swarms migration patterns.

The DLMS is accessible to DestinE registered users via the web platform interface, which is chatacterized by:
• an interactive map of the region affected by desert locust
• different baseline maps, in order to facilitate user accessibility
• confiruation menus to display the forecasting outputs.

There are two service layers available: Early Stage Locust Appearance and Locust Swarm Migration.
