DestinE Platform Beta-testing User Journey

1.  Pre-Operations Objectives

The primary objective of the DestinE Beta-testing is to preliminarily introduce the DestinE Climate Data and access. This introduction allows both expert and non-expert users to explore and provide feedback on their experience using selected DestinE Platform Services to access, manage, process, and visualize Climate DT data, garnering invaluable insights for system initial configurations and further improvements and system performances finetuning. The DestinE Platform provides key components such as the Identity and Access Management (IAM) Service and Service Registry. Once registered, users can exploit the services available on the web portal to access and manipulate data based on platform configuration and resource allocation, if applicable.

2.  Pre-Operations User Scenarios

Here’s how you can navigate through this digital landscape:

2.1 Start the data journey

Embark on your data discovery journey with pilot access to Climate Adaptation Digital Twin data.

Navigate the Web Portal as it guides you in setting up credentials and exploring our initial data portfolio through a user-friendly dropdown menu.

The following services pave the way:

  1. Data Cache Management Service – this service provides access to the most requested Climate Adaptation DT data in zarr format, designed for scalable access.
  2. Polytope – this service offers data in its native format, ensuring integrity and precision.
  3. EDEN – this service provides a seamless way to discover and access data sourced from multiple origins.
  4. Harmonized Data Access (HDA) – this service harmonizes the data accessibility, offering smooth access to datasets gathered from various sources.

2.2 Streamline the data journey

As the journey begins, streamline the process! Weave your own narratives through Jupyter Notebooks and work near the data. Whether you’re an expert user or a curious novice, the platform offers tools, widgets, packages and functions near the data allowing you to manipulate data within an expansive playground.

The following services streamline the journey on data:

  1. Insula Code Lab – this service is your gateway to seamlessly transitioning between data formats and sources. Prototype your journey on Climate Adaptation DT data and create your own narratives into Jupyter Notebooks. Dive into pre-prepared examples to quickly generate plots, charts, and insights, making your data exploration both intuitive and insightful.
  2. STACK – this service simplifies data processing in close proximity to the Data Lake infrastructure, offering JupyterHub, Dask/Dask Gateway, and Open Data Cube solutions. Access is limited to projects developed within the Data Lake and is tailored for advanced users.
  3. HOOK – this service enables the execution of predefined functions in close proximity to the Data Lake using Function-as-a-Service capabilities. Access is limited to projects developed within the Data Lake and is tailored for advanced users.
  4. Islet – this service serves the capability of deploying computing applications and storage in close proximity to the Data Lake infrastructure and working in synergy with STACK service. Access is limited to projects developed within the Data Lake and is tailored for advanced users.

2.3 Visualise the data journey

MiniDEA, residing on data from the Data Cache, allows for rapid dives into Climate Data datasets.

2.4 Stay prompted

AVISO serves timely notification of critical events spanning across both High-Performance Computing (HPC) and cloud system onto the Data Lake infrastructure.

2.5 Share Feedback

Contribute your feedback to shape the evolution of our services! Users’ valuable insights are gathered through the DestinE Portal’s exclusive ‘Beta Testing’ page, found at https://platform.destine.eu/beta-testing/

Whether it’s services, datasets, or any feature available on the platform, your input fuels our progress.

User feedback undergoes thorough analysis to extract invaluable insights, which are then disseminated to pertinent stakeholders.
