DestinE Platform:
Launchpad Contest Regulations
- Organizers and Purpose
- Organizers: Serco and OVHcloud
- Purpose: To stimulate the DestinE ecosystem and support the development of innovative service concepts aligned with the objectives of Destination Earth, including digital twins, climate modelling, and environmental applications.
- Event: The selected finalists will be invited to present their concepts during an in-person pitching event to be held in Brussels on 16 December 2025.
- Eligibility
- Participants: The Contest is open to startups legally registered in one of the following countries:
AT+BE+BG+CY+CZ+DE+DK+EE+GR+ES+FI+FR+HR+HU+IE+IT+LT+LU+LV+MT+NL+NO+PL+PT+RO+SE+SI+SK+IS+LI - Exclusions: Employees of the organizing entities, of EU institutions, or their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
- Compliance: Participants must comply with applicable EU laws and regulations, including those on data protection (GDPR), competition rules, and ethical standards.
- Application Process
- Submission: Applications must be submitted through the dedicated online application form no later than 25 November 2025.
- Requirements:
- Completion of the form, clearly describing how the proposed service concept aligns with DestinE objectives.
- Optional inclusion of a demo, prototype, or supporting materials.
- Language: All submissions and supporting documentation must be provided in English.
- Selection Criteria
The evaluation will follow the DestinE Platform onboarding criteria (see DestinE Platform Onboarding) and will consider the following aspects:
- Attractiveness: Overall appeal and user experience of the proposed service.
- Innovation: Contribution to addressing environmental, economic, and societal challenges through advanced Earth monitoring and modelling technologies.
- Long-term sustainability: Ability of the service to thrive over an extended period ensuring continued positive impacts.
- Alignment with DestinE objectives: Contribution to the EU Digital Strategy and the European Green Deal.
The jury will be composed of members of the following organizations: Serco, OVHcloud, ESA.
- Prizes
Winners will receive OVHcloud credits to support the implementation of their proposed solutions and their integration within the DestinE Platform ecosystem.
- 1st place: Access to the OVHcloud Startup Program with up to €100,000 in credits
- 2nd place: Access to the OVHcloud Startup Program with up to €30,000 in credits
- 3rd place: Access to the OVHcloud Startup Program with €10,000 in credits
The cloud credits will be made available within one month of the event date, on the DestinE Platform infrastructure.
- Data Protection & IP
- GDPR Compliance: Personal data will be processed solely for contest purposes.

- Intellectual Property: Participants retain ownership of their solutions. Organizers may showcase submissions with consent.
- Liability and Ethics
- Code of Conduct: Participants must adhere to high ethical standards and comply with EU values, including non-discrimination, environmental responsibility, and integrity.
- Liability: The organizers shall not be held liable for any technical malfunctions, data loss, or actions of third parties that may affect participation or the outcome of the Contest.
Timeline
- Opening of applications: 7 November 2025
- Submission deadline: 25 November 2025
- Finalist announcement: 1 December 2025
- Final event: 16 December 2025
Amendments
The organizers reserve the right to amend these regulations, postpone deadlines, or adapt event arrangements if deemed necessary. Any modifications will be duly communicated through the DestinE Platform communication channels.
Annex A – Privacy Notice for Participants to the DestinE Platform: Launchpad Contest
Data Controller: The Data Controller for Participants’ personal data is Serco Italia S.p.A (VAT No. 01524751003), with registered office at Viale dell’Astronomia 13, 00144 – Rome.
The Controller has also appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO), whom you may contact directly to exercise your rights or to receive information regarding the processing of your personal data, by writing to: dpo.sercoit@dpoprofessionalservice.it
Purpose and Legal Basis of Processing: The personal data provided will be processed for the purpose of allowing the data subject to participate in the Contest (Art. 6(1)(b) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679), as well as for compliance with legal obligations relating to Contests and other applicable regulations (Art. 6(1)(c) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679).
Failure to provide your data will make it impossible to participate in the Contest.
Data Processed: The types of personal data collected may include general and identification data such as your name, surname, name of your organisation, role, and other contact details such as your email address, as well as your requests and any additional information you may provide.
Methods of Data Processing: The personal data provided are processed by employees and collaborators of the Controller who are expressly identified and authorized to process such data in compliance with the applicable data protection legislation, as well as by entities involved in the organization and management of the Contest for the purposes strictly related to its execution. In particular, the data may be transmitted to the entity financing the prize (OVHcloud) and responsible for organizing the final event, as well as to other parties providing services necessary for the proper conduct of the contest, acting as data processors or, where applicable, as independent data controllers. Data will be processed using electronic, paper-based, and any other suitable means, in compliance with the security measures required by applicable law.
Retention Period: The data collected will be retained for no longer than the duration of all procedures related to the Contest and/or for the time necessary to comply with legal obligations.
Data Subject Rights: At any time, you may exercise the rights referred to in Articles 15 to 22 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 with respect to the Controller by sending an email to dpo.sercoit@dpoprofessionalservice.it
Your rights include:
Right of access – the right to obtain confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning you are being processed and, if so, to access such data;
Right to rectification – the right to obtain, without undue delay, the correction of inaccurate personal data concerning you and/or the completion of incomplete data;
Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) – where applicable, the right to obtain, without undue delay, the deletion of personal data concerning you;
Right to restriction of processing – where applicable, the right to obtain restriction of processing when the legal conditions are met;
Right to data portability – where applicable, the right to receive the personal data concerning you, which you have provided to the Controller, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, and the right to transmit those data to another controller;
Right to object – the right to object, at any time, to the processing of personal data concerning you based on the legitimate interest condition.
The data subject also has the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
