We are pleased to announce the first release of Urban Square, a new modular service developed by Murmuration in collaboration with Sistema, Mozaika, and Imperative, with support from ESA. The service was developed within the DestinE Platform Use Cases framework to showcase the platform’s ability to deliver actionable information and decision support.
Urban Square is designed to support urban planners in assessing climate risks, anticipating environmental threats and exploring adaptation strategies.
By integrating diverse datasets, from Earth observation satellites to socio-economic data, with DestinE Digital Twin technology, the service enables monitoring of six key risk areas: air pollution, urban heat, fluvial floods, sea level rise, infrastructure damage and resources needs.
Pilot cities include Toulouse (France), Sofia and Suhindol (Bulgaria).
Each of these components is user-driven and supports both historical analysis and what-if scenario simulations. This integration of monitoring capabilities with a prospective view – combined with interactive tools for visualising risks and planning responses – enables decision-makers to better understand current risks and take informed action for the future of urban areas.
