We are delighted to announce the first release of the DRE application, a new user-driven service designed to accelerate the transition toward a sustainable energy future.
Developed by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) in collaboration with ENORA INNOVATION, WeMET P.C. and Quest Energy S.A., and supported by the European Space Agency (ESA), this release is part of the DestinE Platform Use Cases framework, demonstrating how the platform can deliver powerful insights and decision-support tools for renewable energy planning and management.
DRE helps energy planners, policymakers, and stakeholders assess renewable energy potential, anticipate resource variability, and explore data-driven strategies for resilient, low-carbon systems.
It provides 2-day forecasts for Global Horizontal Irradiance, solar and wind power output based on Digital Twin data, along with resource assessments from historical CAMS and ERA5 reanalysis datasets. The service also offers dynamic visualisation of results through interactive time-series plots and graphs.
This unique combination of monitoring, forecasting, and interactive visualisation tools empowers decision-makers to better understand energy dynamics, evaluate future scenarios, and take informed action to shape a sustainable energy future for all.
