We are happy to announce the beta testing release of the GGMS (Global Ground Motion Service), implemented by GeoKinesia.
GGMS is a global, on-demand, platform-based ground deformation monitoring service. It transforms satellite radar data into actionable geotechnical insights, supporting informed decision-making for safety, risk management and environmental monitoring, with applications in infrastructure monitoring, civil protection, construction, civil engineering, insurance and mining.
GGMS is based on Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) technology and delivers consistent, large‑scale deformation measurements with millimetre‑level sensitivity. It generates a cloud of georeferenced points, each characterised by the deformation velocity and deformation time series. These points are then used to create deformations maps.
The service also includes two complementary components:
- The ADA (Active Deformation Area) map allows an easy-to-use screening of the results of any InSAR analysis. It identifies clusters of points showing deformation.
- The DDM (Differential Deformation Map) presents spatial differential deformation or spatial deformation gradients. This information is derived for buildings or infrastructure of significant size located in a given area of interest.
