10.000 registered users: a new milestone for the DestinE Platform

The DestinE Platform has reached 10.000 registered users – an important milestone in its development as the point of entry to the Destination Earth system, connecting users with DestinE data, services and applications.

The DestinE Platform’s journey began on 16 October 2024, when it opened to the public, enabling users to create an account, access its growing range of services and request upgraded access to advanced features.

Less than two years after registrations opened, the Platform has now welcomed its 10.000th registered user.

This milestone reflects growing interest in Destination Earth and in using its Digital Twins, data and services to explore environmental change, natural phenomena, hazards and related human activities. In this way, complex Earth-system information can be transformed into knowledge that supports informed decisions.

A Platform that continues to grow

Since its first release, the DestinE Platform has grown to offer 50 services, alongside an expanding portfolio of datasets and Digital Twin simulations.

The Platform’s user base reflects the wide range of audiences it is designed to serve: policymakers and public authorities; academia and researchers; developers and technical users; private-sector organisations – including SMEs and start-ups – media, students and the general public.

The DestinE Platform Dashboard brings this growth into view, with key figures on registered users, visitors and services.

Shaping the Platform’s next phase

Reaching 10.000 registered users is both a moment to celebrate and an important foundation for the work ahead. This milestone comes as Destination Earth enters Phase Three, marking a new stage for the initiative.

During Phase Three, both the Platform and the available services will continue to evolve. Regular updates will focus on usability, robustness, quality information and AI, including more intuitive, natural-language ways to discover data, analyse results and communicate findings.

With user needs at the heart of this work, we will remain transparent about the Platform’s progress and ensure its future development is informed by real user input. The Public Roadmap supports this approach, allowing users to follow the Platform’s progress and, once logged in, share ideas to help shape future improvements.

Thank you to everyone who has registered and explored the DestinE Platform, and to those who have contributed through their questions, ideas and feedback. We also thank the service providers whose contributions continue to expand the range of capabilities available through the Platform.
