Desert Locust Monitoring Service new release live on 18 May

The new release introduces performance warnings and regional or country-level aggregation for enhanced Desert Locust monitoring.

Developed by Sistema, the Desert Locust Monitoring Service (DLMS) helps prevent locust upsurges, supporting crop damage mitigation and safeguarding essential food supplies in the most impacted regions between Africa and Asia.

By using advanced AI techniques and climate data, model data and in situ data, the DLMS allows to identify areas with favorable environmental conditions for locust breeding, and predict locust swarms migration patterns.

 

What’s new in this release?

The new release includes the following features:

  • Warning messages for performance degradation
  • Aggregation per region or country, available upon Tenancy request by interested users

Deployment details

The new release will be deployed on Monday 18 May from 10:00 to 13:00 CEST. During this window, the service will be temporarily unavailable.
