What’s new in this release?
The new release of Vizlab 7 significantly enhances the DestinE Platform visualisation framework, strengthening its role as a key component within the DestinE data access and exploitation environment.
Vizlab now enables seamless integration between user-supplied datasets and DestinE Platform-native content, supporting advanced cross-domain workflows for the exploration, analysis, and communication of Earth system information. This interoperability allows users to combine heterogeneous data streams within a single, coherent 4D visualisation environment – spanning space, time, and multiple physical variables.
Key enhancements include:
- Native integration of external WMS services alongside DestinE Platform datasets
- Direct access to advanced DestinE Platform services such as Data Cache Management, EDEN, and DestinEStreamer
- Extended analytical visualisation capabilities, including maps, 3D histograms, vector arrow representations, streamlines, volumetric rendering, and enhanced vector field visualisation
These capabilities support more robust inspection of high-resolution simulation outputs, observational datasets, and derived products, facilitating comparative analysis across Digital Twin configurations and scenario runs.
Vizlab 7 contributes to the broader DestinE objective of enabling transparent, accessible, and scientifically rigorous interaction with Earth system data, empowering users to construct interactive 4D narratives for research, decision-support and stakeholder communication.
Further visualisation modules and service integrations are already under development, reinforcing DestinE Platform’s evolution as a scalable and interoperable platform within the DestinE framework.
A short technical demonstration video is available on the DestinE Platform Learning Hub to showcase the new workflows and capabilities introduced in this release.
