The UHEATS (Urban Heat) pilot service is now available for beta testing on the DestinE Platform. Developed by VITO and Tecnalia within the Destination Earth framework, it helps city administrations and stakeholders address extreme heat and its impacts on public health, productivity and urban infrastructure across European cities.
The service delivers high-resolution urban climate variables and impact indicators to inform planning and adaptation strategies. Its user-friendly interface enables users to configure simulations and explore results through interactive visualisations.
UHEATS allows users to:
- Assess urban heat risks: analyse heat stress and variability, including impacts on human health and labour
- Compare present-day and future climate conditions: explore how heat hazards and their impacts may change
- Evaluate adaptation measures: assess the effectiveness of green roofs, tree planting, soil unsealing and changes to building colours
These capabilities support decision-making to help cities strengthen their resilience to heatwaves.
