We are happy to introduce the first two Demonstrators now available on the DestinE Platform Learning Hub. These interactive tools show how the DestinE Platform can be used to explore, understand, and communicate climate-related challenges in an engaging and accessible way.
These Demonstrators are designed to support learning, raise awareness, and promote data-driven storytelling for a wide range of users, from journalists to educators to anyone interested in the future of our planet.
DIVA
DIVA is a prototype AI assistant that transforms plain-language questions into visual charts about climate change.
Developed by ATOS and Mews Lab, DIVA is designed to support journalists and other non-expert users in exploring localised climate information for variables such as temperature and precipitation. The tool empowers users to access complex data and quickly produce and download graphical illustrations to support past and future climate-related analysis.
Example use case: users can ask how temperature and precipitation patterns in a specific city are expected to evolve over the next 50 years. DIVA will generate tailored visualisations – interactive and visually appealing graphs, such as line charts – using both historical records and future projections. The result is an easy and effective way to enhance climate storytelling with accurate and engaging content. The process is designed to be simple and flexible, enabling users to create visual content tailored to their needs.
DestinE Climate Game
DestinE Climate Game is an interactive Demonstrator developed by ATOS using the Godot Engine. It is designed to raise awareness about climate change and promote good practices through a fact-based and accessible experience. Aimed particularly at students and educators, the game simulates the impact of everyday choices on the planet, encouraging players to understand the real-world consequences of their actions. The content is based on scientifically observed or simulated data, offering a simple but powerful learning tool for climate education.
Game concept: players take on the role of an environmental preservation agent tasked with managing climate and ecology from the year 2020 to 2100. The game progresses in 20-year steps. At each stage, players explore different scenes, interact with points of interest to learn more about nature and the climate, and choose actions to slow down rising temperatures, CO₂ emissions, and sea levels. The objective is to keep global warming close to +2°C.
At the end of the game, players find out if they have won or lost based on the global temperature reached by 2100, and which IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) trajectory their choices have led to, offering a clear and engaging view of the long-term consequences of human behaviour.
These first Demonstrators are just the beginning. More will be added over time to showcase how the DestinE Platform can support climate analysis and informed decision-making.
