We are happy to announce the first release of InHydro, a precision agriculture service that brings science-grade water balance estimation to farmers and agronomists through an intuitive web platform.
InHydro is an irrigation decision support system that integrates meteorological data, soil characteristics, and crop-specific parameters to compute daily water balances at the field level. It transforms raw climate data into actionable irrigation guidance, helping agricultural professionals optimise water use, reduce waste, and improve crop productivity.
What InHydro offers:
- Daily water balance computed using FAO-56 methodology
- Flexible weather data integration
- ERA5 reanalysis (Copernicus/ECMWF): access decades of historical climate records to run retrospective water balance analyses and benchmark irrigation practices against past conditions
- CMIP6 climate projections: to anticipate how shifting precipitation and temperature patterns will affect water requirements in the future, supporting long-term agricultural planning
- User-uploaded data: import your own meteorological records in CSV or Excel format. This option is ideal for users with on-site weather stations or datasets from third-party providers
- Köppen climate classification used to contextualise field conditions
- Results and reporting
- Time-series charts for water reserve, evapotranspiration, precipitation and recommended irrigation
- CSV export for integration with external analysis tools
- Automated PDF report generation with an executive summary powered by AI
