SesamEO new release live on 5 June

The new release adds new data providers and an improved user interface.

We are pleased to announce the release of SesamEO version 2.0.0, introducing significant enhancements to the service, including new data providers and an improved user interface.

With this new version, SesamEO aims to:

  • Enhance access to key climate and Earth observation datasets
  • Improve the overall user experience through UI redesign
  • Support ongoing integration of Climate DT data sources

What’s new in this release?

  • New Data Providers
    This version extends data accessibility by integrating new providers:
    • Polytope
      Integration of Polytope enables users to access additional products, particularly relevant for new Climate DT (ECMWF Climate DT phase 2 and Extreme DT) use cases.
    • DEDL new API
      The new DEDL STAC API offers users access to a broader range of products, including new climate digital twins from ECMWF
  • User Interface Improvements
    The release also introduces a reworked user interface, designed to improve usability and the overall user experience. The updated interface provides more intuitive navigation and smoother interaction with the service.

  • Copernicus Sentinel Missions: Sentinel-1, Sentinel-1 RTC, Sentinel-2, Sentinel-3, Sentinel-5P, Sentinel-6
  • Global Mosaics & Complementary Data: Sentinel-1 & 2 Global Mosaics, SMOS, Envisat MERIS, Terra/Aqua MODIS, S2GLC 2017, LiDAR
  • Landsat Missions: Landsat-5, Landsat-7, Landsat-8 (ESA)
  • Climate and Athmospheric data: ERA5; Climate Adaptation DT, DT Extremes, ECMWF climate and atmospheric portfolio
  • Other Copernicus Data: Copernicus DEM (COP-DEM), Copernicus Contributing Missions (CCM)
  • Microsoft Planetary Computer: NEX-GDDP-CMIP6, Modis, LiDAR

Deployment details

The new release will be deployed on 5 June 2026, from 09:30 to 13:30 CEST, with an expected service downtime of up to 4 hours.
