COMEO new release live on 13 April

The new release brings user interface improvements, including enhancements to usability and notifications.

The COMEO (Compression Of Models & Earth Observations) service, developed by VisioTerra, aims to compress Earth observation data (Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2) and Earth modeling data (such as C3S ERA5) using lossy algorithms.

 

What’s new in this release?

This new release includes several user interface improvements:

  • General
    • Added a contact email address to the “About us” menu.
    • In smartphone view, the main menu now hides automatically once an option is selected.
  • Compression service
    • Expanded the help section for supported datasets
    • Added verification control on the “Product ID” field to avoid submission of invalid product IDs
    • Improved the visibility of the “Download Decompressor” button to reduce confusion with the compression service workflow
    • Made the “Download Decompressor” button available also “Compression status” and “Compression download” pages
    • Added Google Chrome web notifications to inform users when compression is complete (from the the “Compression status” page).
  • Demonstration tool
    • Added a guide explaining the visual indicator
  • Oil slicks tool
    • Improved the visibility of the progress bar

 

Deployment details

The new release will be deployed on Monday 13 April from 14:00 to 16:00 CEST. A service interruption of approximately 1 hour is expected during the deployment window.
