DestinE Platform
Entry point to DestinE
The DestinE Platform is the cloud-based entry point to DestinE, providing provides users, applications and service providers with direct access to the data and functionalities from the Digital Twin Engine and the Data Lake.Diverse community of users
The platform integrates and operates an open ecosystem of services in an open and secure cloud environment to support DestinE data exploitation, with the aim to meet the needs of a large and diverse community, that includes citizens, scientists and academics, commercial entities, and policy makers.External services onboarding
The DestinE Platform additionally provides onboarding support for integrating external services and resources, making the ecosystem flexible, scalable, and easily adapted to the community needs. -
Digital Twins and Digital Twin Engine
Climate and weather simulations powered by extreme scale computing
The Climate Change Adaptation Digital Twin (Climate Adaptation DT) and the Weather-Induced Extremes Digital Twin (Extremes DT), provide high quality simulations integrating Earth system information and the sectors most impacted by climate change and extreme weather events, exploring new forms of interactivity. The continuous component of the Extremes DT will provide global kilometre (km) – scale simulation capabilities to assess and predict environmental extremes within a time span of a few days. Both DTs include the impact sector elements to better respond to its users’ needs. Powering the DTs, the Digital Twin Engine is the software infrastructure needed for extreme-scale simulations and data fusion, data handling and machine learning, adapted to exploit the capabilities of the EuroHPC supercomputers. It will also provide a flexible environment to operate the digital twins and trial on demand configurations adapted to specific applications. -
Destination Earth Data Lake
The DestinE Data Lake is an essential component that references and provides seamless access to DestinE Digital Twins data and large number of external data spaces. The Data Lake supports near-data processing to maximise throughput and service scalability and implements big data distributed workflows. The DestinE Data Lake provides a harmonisation of data access, regardless of data type and location. The Data Lake stores DestinE Digital Twins data and facilitates the access to massive amounts of data from ECMWF, ESA and EUMETSAT data stores as well as EU Copernicus data, in-situ and European statistical data. In addition to data discovery and access, the Data Lake offers Big Data processing services to work efficiently with DestinE data.
