Desert Locust Monitoring Service new release live on 6 October

The release improves the user experience across the service’s two layers: Early-Stage Desert Locusts and Desert Locust Swarms.

Developed by Sistema, the Desert Locust Monitoring Service (DLMS) helps prevent locust upsurges, supporting crop damage mitigation and safeguarding essential food supplies in the most impacted regions between Africa and Asia.

By using advanced AI techniques and climate data, model data and in situ data, the DLMS allows to identify areas with favorable environmental conditions for locust breeding, and predict locust swarms migration patterns.

The new release provides a smoother user experience across the two available service layers, Early-Stage Desert Locusts and Desert Locust Swarms.

Deployment details

The new release will be deployed on Tuesday 6 October from 08:00 to 10:00 UTC (10:00 to 13:00 CEST). During this window, the service will be temporarily unavailable.
