DEA, the DestinE Data Visualisation and Storytelling service, enables users to create and share interactive data stories without writing code. Its lightweight companion, miniDEA, offers interactive previews of DestinE data that users can embed in their own websites.
What’s new in this release?
- Scrollytelling: The visualisation of DEA user stories on mobile has been improved thanks to this new feature. By scrolling down a story, users can access the narrative content more easily, while still interacting with the data on the map.
- Story export: Users can generate a PDF version of public and shared stories from both the Story Editor and the Story Viewer, for offline, non-interactive visualisation. A notification will inform users of the outcome of their request. Users can download the file from the notification panel. The number of requests per day is subject to a quota. Users must sign in to access this feature.
- Redesigned timeline: The timeline now features a cleaner, more modern design in both the Story Editor and the Story Viewer. Users can set the playback speed more easily and access spatio-temporal details of the data displayed on the map.
- New data from DestinE Streamer: This release includes seamless integration of DestinE Streamer data, which is available for DEA user stories.
- External WMS layers in user stories: Users can visualise the list of layers from a public Web Map Service and display them on the map, using them in both the Story Editor and the Story Viewer.
- Improved map interactions in the Story Editor: The interactivity tools have been moved from the application header to the map for a more intuitive user experience.
- Playback controls and embedding options for miniDEA: Users can now control the playback of miniDEA layers for a more engaging data visualisation experience. In addition, users can copy the code snippet to embed the miniDEA service in their own web pages.
- New data from the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS): DEA now integrates CAMS European air quality forecasts, providing users with access to high-resolution atmospheric composition and pollution forecast layers for Europe.
