Simulations¶
The Climate DT provides two complementary types of global simulations.
Multi-decadal simulations span 1990-2049 and include historical, projection, and control experiments across three model systems (ICON, IFS-FESOM, IFS-NEMO), run at approximately 5 km atmospheric resolution, under a specific scenario (SSP3-7.0).
Storyline simulations use a nudging approach to replay the weather events that occurred between 2017 and 2025 - such as heatwaves and storms - under three climate conditions: a cooler past (~1950), the present-day, and a warmer future (+2 °C). These are produced with IFS-FESOM, run at 10 km atmospheric resolution and approximately 5 km ocean resolution.
Each model uses a different native grid, but output is interpolated onto a common HEALPix mesh and harmonised using a Generic State Vector (GSV) for consistent access across all three models.
