Related Resources¶

This page provides links to related datasets, documentation, repositories, and scientific references relevant to the Wildfire FWI application.

Datasets and Access¶

  • DestinE Data Lake data portfolio Provides access to Wildfire FWI datasets and other Destination Earth data products.

  • DestinE Data Lake documentation Describes discovery and access services, including Harmonised Data Access and Polytope.

These resources provide access to the datasets used in the Wildfire FWI application and guidance on how to retrieve and use them.

Documentation¶

  • Climate DT information on the DestinE Platform Provides context on Climate DT simulations, impact-sector applications, model evaluation, and data access routes.

  • Destination Earth Data Lake introduction Gives background on the Data Lake, Digital Twin Engine, and the Climate Change Adaptation Digital Twin.

These documents describe the overall data processing framework and how the Wildfire FWI application integrates into the Climate DT system.

Code repositories¶

  • Wildfire FWI-related implementations within Climate DT

  • Supporting repositories for Climate DT workflow components

Where available, these repositories provide access to source code, configuration, and implementation details.

Scientific references¶

The Wildfire FWI application is based on the Canadian Forest Fire Weather Index system and its subsequent adaptations.

Key references include:

  • Van Wagner, C. E. (1987). Development and structure of the Canadian Forest Fire Weather Index System. Canadian Forestry Service, Forestry Technical Report 35. See the Open Library record for bibliographic details.

  • EFFIS fire danger forecast technical background, which describes the EFFIS/CEMS fire danger classes and operational use of FWI.

  • Copernicus Fire Weather Index dataset description, which describes FWI-derived fire danger indicators and the threshold classes used in Copernicus climate data products.

Related applications¶

The Wildfire FWI application is part of a broader set of Climate DT impact-sector applications.

Related applications include:

  • HydroMet (extreme precipitation analysis)

  • HydroLand (hydrological modelling)

  • Energy Indicators (renewable energy metrics)

These applications provide complementary perspectives on climate impacts across sectors.
